From The Book

A simple answer for a confusing question
Why don't you call your preachers and ministers "pastors" like other churches?
Frequently Asked Question

Follow Only the Bible

Bible does not say that ministers should be called "pastors" just because they work full-time with the local church. In fact, each member of the Lord's church has the same responsibilities as a minister. The common use of the word "pastor" in churches would more appropriate to the elders of the church. The elders of the church are shepherds.

(1 Peter 5:2)

Meaning of "Pastor"

The definition of the word "pastor" comes from the Greek word ποιμήν ("poimen"). This word is usually translated as "shepherd" in the Bible. The word and position designates someone who is guiding, leading or responsible for someone else.

(Mattew 9:36, 25:32, 25:31, 26:31;
Mark 6:34, 14:27; Luke 2:8, 15, 18, 20;
